Who in the world is Kokopelli, & how on earth did he find Dade City? You walk into this restaurant, & will find a setting in another world. Animals like tigers, bears, and pigs, or hogs are staring at your every move. Watch it, & be good. Forget about what's around you for a second, and just focus on the menu. Everything that you see on the menu not only takes you to a future heaven in your belly, but you will also see that every ingredient has a local twist to it. For example, Fried Green Tomato Napoleon with Kumquat Marmalade. Oh yes, I tried it, & yes it was so good. Local Fried Gator is another example. They could have just picked the gator from my backyard, who knows. For lunch entrees, we selected chicken marsala with home made noodles, & petite braised beef short rib. The latter of the two was the better one. The crisp variety of purple, yellow, and sweet potatoes were what made that entree the max it could be. Our server & service was spot on and sweet. (Count the s' s & add superb). I have endless questions when I go out to eat. She guided me through them. So, back to Kokopelli, & his animals. He was known as the fertility god of humans & animals, prankster, healer, & story teller. Fittingly enough, his flute playing brought the warmth & the spring. So, Happy Spring, & happy future dining at this all around amazing place. You surely will be happy.

I found myself a very cozy spot, cuddled up with a happy hour glass of Merlot. Along with my wine was a king sized salmon salad. The salmon was palm sized, which appeared disappointing at first glance. I asked for croutons and my waiter graciously brought me two kinds of croutons (nice!). I liked both types---Cuban (salty) and cornbread style (dried cornbread muffins; sweet). The salad was primary lettuce but filling and the salmon was excellent. It was accompanied by sliced almonds and dried cranberries. Better than expected considering salads can be on the 'meh' side of things. King salmon salad was around $13. For the more sweet and savory, there are plenty of other options. Items that caught my eye were: The Brie appetizer, the goat cheese cake (ginger snap, goat cheese cake and wild berry compote) and the beer cheese soup equally sound fantastic. Happy hour is 1-7 daily. The cafe is next to the courthouse, has it's own lot and had a unique enough setting to bring someone for an easy conversation starter. Lastly, the servicer was well educated with the menu and worth the tip. Returnable: 100%

Normal restaurant like this in the metropolitan area will increase each dish price by 20% more. Being the small town, they have to make it affordable to the local. The restaurant outside is crawl with green plant and cover the entire window. The green environment provides cooling to the building. Good concept. However it makes the interior darker. They can improve the darkness with electrical light feature. During the lunch time they have offer sandwich, lunch combo and lunch entree. The lunch combo can pick two or three. The items are two set items from appetizer, salad or soup. We did go for it. My coworker picks the Cuban sandwich with potato chip. The Cuban is assembling with mojo pork. I have order the seared Atlantic salmon. They have a choice medium or well done. I have it well done. The side dish are sauté spinach and quinoa salad. The spinach is well prepared and the quinoa salad is a perfect match for the dish. The salmon is delicious to dip into the balsamic reduction. Overall this restaurant should not be at 3.5 stars. I am grading it 4 stars. The service is good. The interior is too dark.

We really wanted to like this place. It would be nice to have a cool local restaurant that isn't a chain. The decor is certainly unique, I've never seen such a creative use of taxidermy before. While I found the atmosphere endearingly kitschy, my youngest son thought it "creepy". Unfortunately, the food was disappointing and overpriced making the dreaded chain fare seem preferable. Still might be a good place to to have a few drinks at the antler-festooned "Stag Bar".

Didn't enjoy much of the food, server was nice and attentive though. A few months ago the bf & I ordered from the lunch combo menu and a couple of appetizers, and everything seemed bland to me aside from the sauces that came with the Calamari. We had Tomato Bisque, She-Crab Bisque, Calamari, Almond Crusted Fried Brie, Cuban Sandwich, and Chef's Ruben. They use to be known for their She-Crab Bisque, idk what happened there bc after I tasted it, I was just eating it to eat it and not let it go to waste, but didn't enjoy it much. The highlight for me was the Calamari, but even that was mediocre. The true hero of the hour was the sauce it came with and after the Calamari was done I tried to put the leftover sauce on everything else that I ate bc there was no flavor. However, I was surprised to find something like Almond Crusted Fried Brie on the menu..in Dade City. I think eclectic would be a perfect description of it. I enjoyed trying it, but not sure if I really liked it to want to order it again. I think that Kafe Kokopelli has some fine, high-end ingredients but how they're actually cooked and put together is a different story. As my boyfriend succinctly said, "A great cook can use mediocre ingredients and still make a great dish, but a bad cook won't make a great dish even if they used the best high-end quality ingredients." I don't think I'd be back until there's a good overhaul of the dishes.

Been a patron here for over 10 years, 3 or 4 times a year we would make the drive from Tampa to eat here. Tonight was the last time I will eat here. Prices have gone up, quality has gone way down, both in food and service. We ordered a New York strip it was tough and overcooked. The Entre Cesar Salad was bland, small and the lettuce was warm and wilted. The Prime rib was almost cold and mostly fat Worst of all my mother-in-law ordered the Egg plant Parmesan (vegetarian) and was served Veal Parmesan!!!!! When we eventually got the attention of another server (ours had not been seen since delivering the plates) she was nonchalant and dismissive. Finally the original server came back and tried to tell us that we had ordered the Veal, no apology was offered. When the.correct meal was finally delivered it was overcooked and tasteless. The waitress did remove the cost from the bill, but this error deserved more than a comped entre. Even the coffee was weak and tasteless. It seems the new owners are cutting corners and are not concerned about the consequence. Tonight there were many empty tables at 8pm on a Saturday night? The two tables closest to us also had problems with their meals. It sad to see a once reputable business having its reputation destroyed. Do yourself a favor - do not go

Great lunch. Always satisfied with the meal. Only 4 stars because menu is limited to what you can get for under $15 at lunch.

I'm not sure what happened to this place. Actually... It was never great. I always thought the food was pedantic and bland, but came for a few items that were noteworthy: namely, the she-crab bisque, the house dressing, and gator. I played the piano here back in high school, and was paid in tips and house salads. I have somewhat of an emotional connection, I must admit. However, Today's lunch had terribly executed versions of everything I loved. In fact, today's experience has removed any desire to ever come back. I had a lunch trio of gator, house salad, and she crab bisque. The gator, while fried correctly, was egregiously overseasoned. Each little crispy bite of swamp raised happiness unleashed a kraken of salt into my mouth. Lucky, it was a lunch portion... Otherwise, I'd be reaching for the lisinopril. The crab bisque was so far from a bisque... It was almost a stew. Gloopy, lumpy, flavorless, and strangely underseasoned. A bisque isn't any of those things. The crown jewel of kokopelli's was always their house dressing. It was one of the most unique dressings I had ever had, a blend of vinegars, Dijon mustard, and onion. It was perfectly tangy, seasoned, and complimentary to the rough flavors of field greens. Today's dressing reminded me of a ranch vinaigrette. The salad was served with a goat cheese slathered toast. This salad was sad. Oh.. One more thing. Maple butter with Italian spices is just weird. Not cool, not trendy, not good. Service was cheery and quick. At least they've got that going for them. I feel like I have just dragged an old friend through the mud, and I am gently torn about it. Things change, I know, over the years. Maybe I am holding on too much to the past. Maybe, it was just bad. ... Yeah, it was just bad.

we go to kokopeli for drinks as we have never had a decent meal. we once had raw chicken served to us and they did replace lt and was computed and given a drink but I really couldn't enjoy anything after the raw chicken. The last time we ate there the fresh pasta was under cooked and stuck together. Now we only go for drinks.

We had a wonderful dinner at this unique restaurant. The menu was truly amazing and the food was equally impressive. We ordered the calamari as a starter with red pepper purée and smoked mayonnaise (words cannot do it justice - you gotta try it!) and the fried green tomatoes Napolean. My wife had the shrimp scampi pasta and I had the NY strip, both great. The dried cherry donut desert with caramel dipping sauce was a perfect finish to a great meal. This restaurant also offer wine pairings with its main meals, which I think is a true indication you are eating somewhere special. I highly recommend this restaurant and will be back in the not too distant future. Go there, as soon as you can

Server was solid. Helpful a little more attentive and cheerful than I like but I am Curmudgeonous. Cool decor Fun contemporary southern twist. A little too salty but otherwise quite well put together. Would probably be $$$ instead of $$ but we ordered apps and salad.

So here's the skinny, a few months back some chic rear ended us on State Road 54, which meant that when she decided to fight the citation, we had to report to Dade City for court. So we're talking, take time off of work, drive an hour north of where we live and sit in a freakin' court room. Fun, huh? Anywho, what started as a major pebble in our shoe, quickly turned into the fun exploration of a city we had never been to. So after court, La Chica and I hit up some antique shops and then began looking for some place to stuff our potato traps. We had actually just returned from St. Louis and discovered that my aunt up there is completely OBSESSED with Kokopelli. So since this was fresh on the brain, we saw Kafe Kokopelli as our destiny. You can read the other reviews for the interior design deets, and you can read mine to find out that their WHITE CHICKEN CHILI is the best on the planet. So chunky, so savory and so subtly spicy on the back end. Absolutely heart-warming and delightful. Do yourself a favor and at least get a cup of this with sour cream. I also wolfed down a sandwich that was on special, and it was pretty good, but pay close attention because it requires a slight modification. The sandwich, servered on Cuban bread, had chicken, spinach and mushrooms, but needed one thing--tomatoes. This absent fruit would have transformed this sammich completely, so heed my word. We also had the white sangria. It was tasty, but don't order it if you're not a fan of cinnamon. The service was STELLAR. Erika was our server and she provided us with the type of service you could only get in a small southern community like Dade City, and we thank her for that. She brought us two small samples of their crab bisque, kept our drinks full and was just as pleasant as could be. Would absolutely return!

Nice service, but bad food. Decor is tacky too. Everything was oddly sweet, and they put this weird sweet tomato sauce on the Italian benedict that just clashed with the other flavors. Plus greasy fried potatoes. Super let down. They need a change of menu and decor desperately. 2 stars for service.

Tried this place on vacation. The decor was very electic, and the menu had a lot of good options. The place was packed, but not so much that they were overwhelmed, we ended getting a table forty-five minutes before our scheduled reservation time. Our waitress was very friendly. We decided to order an appetizer, as well as soup and salads before our entrees. Our drinks came promptly, followed by our appetizer, and somehow it all went downhill from there....... Soup and salad does not have to be cooked, just poured and plated as I understand, yet for some reason it took about thirty minutes for us to get it. Our waitress, as nice and bubbly as she was, never came back to check on us, or let us know the status of our orders. My boyfriend's soup, although tasty was warm and she was so busied, that she refilled him with the wrong drinks.... then we waited.....and waited....and waited.... after fifty minutes with no entrees, we were beginning to figure out the cost of what we ate so far, so we could leave that on the table and get a pizza, when finally she came to the table. My boyfriend asked the status of orders and instead of immediately checking she decides to visit other tables!!! Our food finally showed up...just under an hour, and again was....warm..... She did apologize for the wait in the end, but she could of let us know during, just how busy it was.....if that was the case. Food was "Eh". Maybe a nice spot to hit if you have all day to kill... :-)

Have had lunch and dinner here and found the food and service to be great! We loved the interesting decor. The Citrus Room is especially nice for a large group.

I was in town for business and stumbled upon this hidden Gem. Prices are great! Wonderful house sangria. Had the filet and friend had the Salmon both were delish. Had the calamari as well my only complaint would be calamari was slightly over cooked. Would definitely go back. Very cool atmosphere loved the decor and ambiance.

We went to Kokopelli and every single thing we ate was delicious! The corn muffins are the best I've ever tasted. The gator was good. Our entrees were chicken Parmesan and the meatloaf they were so good and fresh. The meatloaf was served with garlic mashed potatoes that were delicious and fresh green beans. The chicken was cooked perfectly and came with fresh pasta. It all was soooo good. My compliments to the chef!

Check out the live music, great service & good food Gorgeous exterior covered w vines, palm trees tastefully wrapped in lights, antique garden sculpture, & a very eclectic interior creating an inviting atmosphere. Excellent service. Live acoustic music in the lounge. Decent wine & cocktail menu. Creative & eye enticing plate presentation. Loved the panko encrusted warm Brie w berry compote & local honey. Didn't totally care for the watermelon Napoleon as it was waterlogged, so all of the components slid around. Yet the herbed goat cheese & baby water cress were perfect. The fried grouper sandwich was light w a crisp exterior, fresh tender fish, lemony aioli L&T on brioch w house made kettle chips on the side- excellent! Outdoor seating. Tiny rear parking lot.

Seriously this place is in Dade city? Such a huge layout with banquet rooms and all. I had some drinks and appetizers. The Almond Crusted fried Brie was hands down one of the most amazing things I have tasted in a long time. The Fried Green Tomatoes Napoleon was very tasty. I was shocked to have such awesome food and atmosphere in such a rural place. I would recommend, I would go again. Service was great too.

Wow! Just enjoyed a delicious late lunch/early dinner. Restaurant is family friendly and has an excellent menu. My sons enjoyed their meals as did I and my wife. The beer cheese soup appetizer and stuffed meatloaf dinner were excellent. The corn bread muffins and maple butter were also excellent. If this place were about 50 minutes south in downtown Tampa it would be much more expensive as this place offers a high quality food experience.
